Out To Play Golf 1999 - 2010 |
THE US PGA CHAMPIONSHIP
First held in 1916 at Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, New York
and won by Jim
Barnes, a British-born golfer who was one of the few European winners of this tournament.
The US PGA Championship is unique amongst the majors because only Professional golfers
can take part.
A fact which undoubtedly provides the tournament with one of the strongest
fields in golf.
It is now played in August as the last major of the year.
The tournament switched
format from matchplay to strokeplay in 1958
and throughout its history has provided
some surprising results as the table below will show.
