The golfing career of Jack Niclkaus was firmly underway when in 1960 he set the record for an amateur - in any Open -
of 282 during the U.S. Open Championship. A record that brought him second place to no less than Arnold Palmer.
This was the start of a career that has dominated golf for a quarter of a century.

Playing the game from the age of ten, winning his first US Amateur Championship at nineteen as well as becoming
a team member of the Walker Cup and by 1973 he had won more major championship titles than any other player.

The impact made upon the game of golf by Jack Nicklaus is such that there has never been a player quite like him.
By any standards his record is remarkable. From the age of fourteen he has won tournaments with regularity.
Playing in more than 150 consecutive Majors up to 1999 and making more than 130 tournament appearances up to 1996.
With more than $6 million in earnings from the game of golf.

His success is due, in part , to his intense concentration and immense physical strength.
Affectionately known as the "Golden Bear" his record at the top level of golf is unique.

Argued by many as the greatest player of the modern game, some would argue the greatest of all time.
Whatever your own point of view there is no doubt that when you also add to all this is ability to
design outstanding golf courses around the world you have a true ambassador of the game.
